Beauty is an Ageless Thing – (excerpt from the Westmore Beauty Book – 1956)
“If there is one single piece of advice we would give all women, it is: act your age. The reasons why this is wise – not just beauty-wise – are many. Every woman goes through several beauty stages in her life. Each one is precious and a once in a lifetime experience. Each one comes only once to every women. And every woman, inevitably, go through all of these beauty stages. This thought alone should teach you that envy of or uncharitableness toward any one age is futile and unrealistic.
A very young women is a thing of beauty and innocence. She can, at this stage take full advantage of her innocence and the beauty only innocence can have. After her teens, she becomes the youthful, vital, anxious learn kind of beauty. Wide-eyed wonder, and the kind of beauty it has, comes only once.
Thence the woman turns into the still young, ever-alert, more knowledgeable and more adaptable kind of beauty. This woman has learned at least part of the score of life and is anxious to learn the rest. This beauty is easy to look at, less easy to deceive. Andy so a woman can finally approach the true beginning of maturity int he fullest sense-mental, physical, and emotional. This is the kind of true beauty that can and should have no equal. It is a beauty every woman has to earn. It is, but he same token, a time when a woman can begin to relax and enjoy the fruits of her earlier learning, blossoming years.
The assurance, poise, and generosity of heart and mind that can and should be part and parcel of the woman at this stage of life create a kind of enduring and durable beauty of mind and body that can be truly irresistible. A knowing woman is a beautiful woman – and she is one who learned in her teens that every stage of her life has its own, richly rewarding and enviable beauty.”

On Saturday 13th of July the City of Gold Coast officially turns 60 and they will be celebrating their birthday in huge style! For this occasion they have asked me and The Lindy Charm School to put together a fashion parade with a difference to celebrate 1959 to 2019… I’m planning to marry the era of fashion with the music and dance style of the same era and am looking for models and dancers of all ages. Yes there will be kids, blokes in Safari Suits, disco queens doing the hustle, Go Go dancers and everything in between! It’s going to be crazy and fun so looking for anyone who wants to be involved either as:
* Back Stage Kittens & Dressers,
* Dancers that can play with 60’s, 70’s 80’s & 90’s style dances,
* Peeps who don’t mind wearing vintage bathers/bikini’s for ladies, trunks for fellas
* Anyone else happy to model different eras.
Date: Saturday 13th July 2019
Time: 3pm to 7pm (Dress rehearsal in the morning) – 15 Min parade proceeding the main act
Place: Broadwater Parklands
The city – previously known as South Coast – will celebrate 60 years since it was renamed Gold Coast. The diamond jubilee event is building, with some of the state’s most powerful figures throwing their weight behind party plans. This is going to be huge!

A 3 Hour Hands On Vintage Hair and Makeup Workshop covering the following:
* Easy Vintage styling for Everyday wear

* Victory Rolls
* Pin Curls, Brush Outs and Pinning
* Do Rags, Scarves and Turban Tying

Selfies for Self Respect Workshop – Qld
Learn how to take the perfect selfie and grow a fab following of respectful fans on Instagram, Snapchat and/or Facebook. Young women aged 13 to 16 are invited to join The Lindy Charm School together with an experienced life model (Bobby Napier) and a young GC musician and passionate Instagrammer, (Fay Corbett) as they share how to show your best self on social media and create the awesome community you deserve without compromising your self respect. #becauseyoureworthit

Leading Ladies – Jean Arthur
Jean Arthur (born Gladys Georgianna Greene; October 17, 1900 – June 19, 1991) was an American actress and a film star of the 1930s and 1940s.
She’s tough, walks with extreme confidence, and when she smiles it’s a racy combination of sex appeal and a look as if she’s just told the most wonderful joke in the world.
Arthur had feature roles in three Frank Capra films: Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), You Can’t Take It with You (1938), and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), films that championed the “everyday heroine”. Arthur was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1944 for her performance in The More the Merrier (1943). James Harvey wrote in his history of the romantic comedy:
“No one was more closely identified with the screwball comedy than Jean Arthur. So much was she part of it, so much was her star personality defined by it, that the screwball style itself seems almost unimaginable without her.” She has been called “the quintessential comedic leading lady”.
To the public, Arthur was known as a reclusive woman. News magazine Life observed in a 1940 article: “Next to Garbo, Jean Arthur is Hollywood’s reigning mystery woman.” As well as recoiling from interviews, she avoided photographers and refused to become a part of any kind of publicity.
- Style Notes:
- Although she seems a strange choice for the role Jean was one of four actresses to appear in the final round of screen tests for the role of Scarlett O Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939). While the other 3 actresses dress din studio costumes, Jean insisted on wear a “scarlett” dress she had personally commissioned from costume designer Irene.
- When Jean was displease with a look created for her, she didn’t mince words. On one set she actually tore up a wig and dress that didn’t suit her.
- Jean used many tricks to stay youthful. Event her closest friends were fuzzy not he details of where and when she was born and she often wore a veil in public.
- Jean claimed to be fairly disinterested in clothes until meeting up with designer Nolan Miller. Miller created elegant hats and satin coats for the Jean Arthur Show before going on to make costumes for Dynasty and Charlies Angels.
