MEET NATHAN PAGE, STAR OF MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES

 

Hold onto your hat Phryne Fisher fans! Visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to meet the very swoon-worthy Nathan Page, aka Detective Inspector Jack Robinson, star of ABC’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. He will be on onstage to answer all your questions about his character and the show, and afterwards you can grab an autograph and a picture with Nathan.

Fashion Parades:
Vintage Garage together with Darley Models are proud to host the Love Vintage Fashion Parade “Fusion” that will interpret the evolution of Vintage fashion in contemporary trends and styles.  On stage at 12noon on Saturday and 12.15 on Sunday.  Vintage Garage is a lovingly curated collective of 35+ of Melbourne’s finest Vintage traders. Look for the hot red 1961 EK Holden at the fair or visit us instore at 318 Smith Street, Collingwood.

Bands:

Inspired by the music of the 1940‘s, Betty, Dot and Mabel will take you on a journey back in time to re live all your favourite classics such as ‘Boogie Woogie’ and ‘Don’t Sit under the Apple Tree’.

 

SHELLEY & LAWRIE MINSON – ROCKABILY DUO

Shelley Minson & Lawrie Minson are building a nation wide reputation as fine songwriters and dynamic live performers. In the past six months they have played at some of the largest music festivals in Australia including Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival, Gympie Music Muster, Woodford Folk Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Shelley and Lawrie’s blend of traditional Country Music and Rockabilly has been a hit with the fans and they have found a niche market that suits their look and their style of music.

BEST DRESSED IN VINTAGE COMPETITION – FRIDAY NIGHT

Friday evening at The Love Vintage & Retro Fair is the time that vintage lovers pop on their most fabulous vintage and retro fashion – letting glamor be the order of the night!

For those who want to show their style and how they can put together the perfect vintage outfit, we invite you to register at the show for the Best Dressed In Vintage Competition at the Catwalk Stage. The parade will take place at 7pm on the main catwalk stage.

There are categories for Best Dressed Lady and Gentleman from any era, with a host of wonderful prizes to be won.

Have you got your outfit ready? Here are a few judging tips from our style guru and MC, Miss Chrissy.

~ Be true to your era – make sure your top/bottom/coat are all from the same era
~ Accessories make and outfit – but make sure they are the same era as your clothes
~ Style your hair and makeup to match the era of the outfit you are wearing. There is no particular era we are looking for – wear your favourite! From 1920s to ’50s, ’60s to (uh oh!) ’80s.

HEAR PRESENTATIONS FROM VINTAGE STYLE EXPERTS…

Jacinta from Circa Vintage Hats will give a sneak preview into what’s on-trend for winter hats and what styles will blitz Fashions On The Field for this coming year’s Spring Carnival.

Would you love to wear a hat as well as Kate Middleton? Jacinta is a hat stylist and she can advise you on the correct hat colour, shape and style for your face.

A hat can change everything!

Hear from one of Britian’s Suavest of Gents – Mr Jake Varnam.What is Vintage Clothing and what are its origins? How to Mix the eras and decades to create a more contemporary Vintage Look, Jake will be discussing some British subcultures and fashions and Britains influence on contemporary fashion. Find out the benefits of having vintage clothingand discover what it can give us.
Joanne Rolfe from Vintage Designs will speak on Elsa Schiaparelli during the 1926 – 1936 period at the beginning of her label and through to the Surrealist influences of the 1930s. Joanne will look at the impact of the Surrealist movement on her work, and Schiaparelli’s domination as a designer in the field of fashion at that time, with examples of her ‘pour le sport’ relaxed form of dressing and how this style has influenced fashion to date, including millinery.

 

 

Miss Lily White has just returned with Crown and Sash as Australia’s Winner of the VLV17 (Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender) Pin Up Competition in Las Vegas.  Miss Lily

will be our VIP Meet and Greet Pin Up Princess as well as giving a super presentation on Saturday morning about “The History of Beauty Pageants, How they started, Their success, And why women participate.”

A presentation not to be missed.
