ICONIC 1950s beauty is making a comeback this weekend, with Wintersun ladies having the chance to attend charm school sessions.
Principal of Lindy Charm School for Ladies Chrissy Keepence said the workshops will give aspiring vintage fashion queens a chance to sharpen their skills.
āThe charm school gives young ladies the chance to define their look. Itās about keeping traditions alive and letting women know about the options they have,ā Ms Keepence said.
āThis is not just for young girls; we have ladies from 14 to 70 attending our workshops.ā
Ms Keepence said there will be a charm school booth in the main street tomorrow and a charm school workshop on Sunday.
āAt the workshop ladies will learn how to do their hair, make-up and nails; they will also learn how to walk in sky-high heels and the importance of the right underwear,ā Ms Keepence said.
āItās about helping the ladies to cultivate a glamorised look.ā
Ms Keepence said there has been a recent return to stylised ā50s glamour in Australia, with women embracing a feminised high-fashion image.
āThere has been resurgence to glamour. Many musical artists are leading by example and Australian fashion magazines are also beginning to embrace this trend.ā
A 1950ās cake competition has also been arranged for the weekend and a number of colourful entries have already been created.
āWe have had both men and women enter cakes for the competition as well as some mother and daughter teams; it should be a great event,ā Ms Keepence said.
āOn Sunday there will be a parade of 1950ās swimwear, where a bevy of beauties will model classic vintage swimwear.ā
