Recently my sister Ronnie and I had the pleasure of offering one of our new mini charm school workshops to the Mums and Daughters of the Gold Coast as part of the Active and Healthy School Holidays program. It was a real Bonding over Beauty day… A Special Guest attended… Miss Emily Jade from Hot Tomato with her little girl Miss Milly.. such a treat for all to have you there Miss Emily!
The New Look Pacific Fair hosted us and the awesome team at Priceline Pac Fair sponsored us by giving a free giveaway to each of the girls.
It was always going to be a fun workshop with little ladies getting the chance to put makeup on Mum and get to brush her hair and fashion some funky little Do! The gleam in some of the girls eyes may have shown a hint of payback time!
Whilst I talked of Charm, Manners and Grooming, Ronnie showed them how to gain confidence with posture and most importantly the Wonder Woman Pose for strength.
There were 3 things I loved in particular about this workshop:
- How the girls changed from when they arrived to when they left. They stood taller and smiled broader;
- Watching the Mum’s nod their heads in agreement and whisper : see, Mummy tells you this too;
- Watching the wonderful little exchanges and how mums were so patient and trusting in the artful application of makeup by their little girls.. Laughter all round..
Here’s some Take Away Charm and Manners for you today:
….two superficial attributes are alone indispensable: good manners and a pleasing appearance – Emily Post
Did you know: Manners are NOT Etiquette? The truth about manners …manners are etiquette not the same.
Manners are the result of a kind heart.
Etiquette is an orderly way of doing things and a customary code of conduct of good behaviour. Etiquette is like the Law but it is not the law and in general, etiquette are a list of (almost boring) rules. While some are helpful, they can get quite ridiculous. It is simply impossibly to remember all of them. They do help however to know the Etiquette rule of the home or the community or the country you are visiting to prevent any embarrassing faux pars.
Manners, on the other hand, are a result of graciousness. Having manners is a sure tell-tale sign. An elegant person, despite wearing a pretty dress, poised, looking gorgeous, falls fast from elegance when her face turns sour as she complains about everything.
How to Have Both Manners and Etiquette
If you have manners first, etiquette will follow. Etiquette are well-thought of rules that present an orderly way of doing things, as well as the most considerate, conflict-avoiding way.
Til next time,
