How To Incorporate Vintage In Your Wardrobe
Once upon time… long long ago… a fashionista wouldn’t have been seen dead in an ‘Op Shop’. Fast forward to the last few years and having vintage in your wardrobe is de rigeur. Fashionistas are not only on-board with fashion recycling but they actively search far and wide for trendy, glamorous, unique or quirky vintage pieces. And I am one of the very guilty.
So I asked Miss Chrissy from the Lindy Charm School for Girls for a few tips on how to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. It’s a great trend and it’s here to stay. I guess that means it’s not a trend, it’s a lifestyle. Over to Miss Chrissy.
#1 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Start at the top.
Vintage hairstyles ooze feminine sophistication. Channel old-school Hollywood glamour with a deep side part and full bodied wave. Think of Rita Hayworth as you section and curl your tresses the old fashioned way. Use essential setting lotion and some pin curls or you may wish to use some mod cons and go for the hot rollers for vintage VA-VA-VOOM. Brush out for volume and style to suit your look for the day. Voila!
#2 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Perfect the Pout.
No use having bangin’ great bangs and no makeup! Add a touch of that beguiling blush (pink of course!) to the apples of your cheeks, and when a wink of your eyes just won’t cut it then go the winged eyeliner to add your feline touch.
#3 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Play with Lengths
Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (croissant and coffee a must!). For timeless sophistication, select a dress that falls anywhere from your knee to ankle and pair with some killer pumps. Draping sashes always welcome! Try Etsy for new vintage tea dresses.
#4 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Have a Treasure Hunt.
Let’s broach the topic of Nanna’s treasures. For a simple pop of art-deco delight, add a little vintage sparkle to your anytime wear.Putting a Vintage Brooch in your hat or clipped to your pearls or maybe a statement addition to your handbag! Gals, that’s glam!
#5 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Put a Wiggle in Your Walk.
Revive retro fun with the perfect wiggle skirt, high heels and sweater girl top to stop people in their tracks. Think 1950’s bombshell pinups…. Think Betty Grable and Marilyn Munroe in How to Marry A Millionaire! Accentuate your waist with a wide belt, clutch that purse and beam your way into their hearts! It’s all in that smile!
#6 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Stay Warm with Glam.
As we slowly start to welcome autumn, keep warm on chilly mornings by matching your hat and gloves. Why not add as Faux Fur collar to your cardi’s for some fun. As an added vintage touch make your clutch a Glomesh one, it will add instant glamour.
#7 Tip to incorporate vintage in your wardrobe. Pop on Some Pumps.
Vintage is the one style trend that never goes out of fashion. So pop on some peep toe pumps, Seamed Fishnets and step back in time…after all….it’s vintaggee darlinkkk!
