These two questions I have been asked many times over the past few years by those in my family, those who follow me through social media or my website, from those who come to our workshops and from those who strike up a conversation with me in any given circumstance. I have had conversations about Love Vintage and all things associated with the name and the idea in many different and sometimes strange places. Before I answer the questions as I believe them I thought I would share a couple of very odd places I have found myself talking about the Love Vinatge Fairs and what I do etc:
1: The Most Common: At the Aiport Security Check whilst being padded down and de-pinned…
2: The funniest: At the traffic lights on the way to Bris LV Fair in my car with The Lindy Charm School For Girls signwriting on the back window… A guy pulls up beside me and winds the window down and asks what am I all about and why do I look so glamorous this early in the morning!! A pick up or genuine interest in the look? I don’t know but I flicked him a VIP entry tickt to the red carpet event on the Friday night in any case…
3: The most Bizzaar: Distraught, cold and lost in Melbourne late one night I slipped into the warmth of an all night laundromat for a spell. A few woe is me tears attracted a couple who were just out on a friday night doing their laundry. Striking up a conversation with me (I think to break the awkwardness of the moment), they didn’t ask what was wrong (which I was so glad about) they just commented on my outfit/look and starting talking about their love of vintage which is when I started telling them about the Love Vintage Fairs!!!
It doesn’t matter how the conversation starts it usually ends with me spilling my passion for these events, what we do and all things glamorous within 5 minutes….
So what are the Love Vintage Fairs all About then? What’s the attraction anyway?
To me: It’s a a fascinating place full of colour, texture, interesting people and things.. A trip down memory lane, an education, a positive, friendly and safe environment to be who you want to be, a place where you will fit into glamour, style and vintage charm that does not break the bank.. A place that makes you feel a million bucks for only a few bucks all while saving the planet and recycling, re-using and Make Do and Mending.. A place where you can introduce your children to the wonderous toys, games and a fun childhood life of yesteryear, remember the Click Clacks, checkerboard games, wooden skateboards, the yo-yo, pogo sticks and more and then what about the menfolk: They love meandering through the aisles full of pop art, retro prints, collectible kitch, old records, stopping off to try their very own Quiff by Tony The Quiff Master before trying on some new threads from Mr Vintage and other stall holders now catering more and more for our Chaps….. And of course, last but not least, what about the gals: Fabrics, buttons and bows, shapes, textures and styles, accessories, accesories and more accessories and not to mention the most important element… You can complete your vintage transformation with having your hair and makeup done by The Lindy Charm School for Girls.. Again I say….. Look a million bucks for only a few bucks!! what a way to spend a weekend.. And not to mention ladies, at every fair you get the opportunity come along to the LCS Vintage Styling SWorkshops and learn the art, history and techniques of our foremothers in achieving the perfect 1930’s, 40’s & 50’s Hair and Makeup… Yes.. we teach YOU how to do it…
So, that’s what I answer with,…… what do YOU think it’s all about? What’s the attraction? I’d love to hear YOUR thoughts/opinions and comments…. The best reply (will be judged by the Master) will receive a gift pack from The Lindy Charm School for Girls….
Send this on to your friends, maybe they have an opinion too they’d like to share…
Til Next Time… Here are the details of the last two shows of the Year in Sydney and Melbourne… Road Trip anyone?
