I just wanted to thank you and your lovely assistants, Sue and Brooke, for an amazing, informative, and fun day at the Saturday Vintage Hair & Makeup workshops in Sydney.
I love how knowledgeable and passionate you are, and taught us about the history of those eras from 1930s to 60s. You’re a wonderful teacher and I appreciated how clear your step-by-step instructions were, demonstrations on different people with hair lengths and colours, and that everyone was given time and assistance where needed.
I have to admit I was a bit worried because I’m of my Asian appearance and being tattooed that I’d be out of place, but you all made me feel so welcome and included – thank you!
I’ve always been a bit more masculine or tomboyish, mostly wearing pants and no makeup, but now I enjoy putting more effort into hair and makeup and dressing up. After your workshop I felt more empowered and not feeling as if doing hair and makeup was a way to conform to society’s standard of beauty, but a way for myself to feel proud of myself, more confident, and feminine in my own way.
