I feel like a Time Traveller at times. Although Gold Coast based these days, Melbourne frequently calls me to her to play. Whether it is holding my own Vintage Styling Workshops or collaborating with other like minded creatives to come up with new and fancy ways to share our passion for all things vintage or maybe it is just Hosting High Tea in Historical ballrooms! I travel between the 1920’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s almost daily but these events I get to do at Rippon Lea Estate are up there on my list of my most favourite things to do. I often step back in time but harking back to the 1920’s fashion and fun is definitely a glamorous treat. The last month has been golden for the richness of colour, fashion and fun…Beautiful Ballroom, Hosting Afternoon Tea with a Touch of Etiquette and Emceeing one of the most magnificent fashion Salon Parades I have seen put together by Tessa and Vanessa from THE VINTAGE EMPORIUM, Josephine from VINTAGE CAF and Jo from ONCE MORE WITH FEELING… Exquisite… These images were captured by Elizabeth Gao who contacted me out of the blue and asked if she could come along and take some snaps for us.. just because!… Oh My goodness how fabulously talented this photographer is.. We weren’t expecting this generosity but were over the moon as Elizabeth captured the spirit of the day perfectly. THANK YOU…
We were transported to a time where stars, sophistication and city lights influenced the fashion worn by the well-dressed. The Night Life exhibition was drawn from the fashion collection of the National Trust of Australia (Victoria). It also includes the work of contemporary Melbourne stylists and photographers who see this era through modern eyes. The exhibition featured over 50 gowns as well as accessories, which reveal embellished surfaces, ornamentation and pattern, with many made locally in Victoria.
I was privileged to host this very special Afternoon Tea with a Touch of Etiquette, sharing my knowledge on the history as well as going through the importance of postures, poise & posing with the guests, It was all about how you held yourself in society in the past and today these messages are equally as important.
