The boudoir shoot especially felt really empowering… Jess

I first met Jess when she Swung In to Swing On In from Canberra, hit the dance floor and wowed us with her effortless Lindy Hop, her dancing smile and her warmth.  Jess, being a school teacher, had to go where the work was,  so unfortunately we did not get to keep her long BUT as any passionate Lindy Hopper would know, when you are starved of dance… you travel… and that’s just what Jess does.  From Port Macquarie to the Northern Rivers to catch a dance or 10 o a regular basis.

After such a long covid break and then struck down with some serious illness, I was thrilled to see Jess come out the other side smiling and keen t spend some time with Amanda from Peppermint Photography and myself from The Lindy Charm School .

I asked Jess about her experience and here she is sharing about of her story…

Mum and I are very close – she’s my best friend! Like most mothers, she’s incredibly giving and selfless, and often doesn’t take much time for herself. For mother’s day and her birthday, I wanted to give her a present that would make her feel really special, and remind her of how beautiful she is. Living in different towns, we don’t get a lot of girl time, so it was extra special to do the makeover and photoshoot together.

I’ve been unwell for a number of years, but wasn’t getting any answers from doctors. During surgery at the end of 2019, for what was thought to be appendicitis, I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis. The surgeon at the time didn’t think it was much, but fast-forward to the end of 2020 to surgery with a specialist, and it was found to be stage 4 endo along with adenomyosis. Six months down the recovery track, I feel like I have been given my life back – and I’m so grateful! After everything, my body has undergone some changes and so at times, I still struggle to accept it.

I was a little nervous about the photoshoot to begin with, but Chrissy and Amanda made me feel so comfortable. The boudoir shoot especially felt really empowering. I was thrilled to see how the photos turned out – I’m feeling like my old self again..
